Lev Glazman, co-founder of Fresh (with wife Alina Roytberg), on the brand’s new wonder oil.
You have a history with Seaberry Oil. Can you tell us about that?
When I was a child, living in a small town in Eastern Siberia, I accidentally tipped over a pot of boiling water. My arm was badly burned, and I was rushed to the doctor where he treated my wounds with a pasty orange salve that I later learned was seabuckthorn oil [also known as seaberry oil]. I am still amazed that I don’t have a single scar from the severe injury.
What took so long for us to see this ingredient in the line?
We have been working on introducing seabuckthorn oil for over ten years. We had to find the right grade of ingredient. We had to be able to work with the scent of the ingredient. We had to make sure we incorporated it into the formula in a very efficacious way. And we had to find the right texture, since it is such a highly concentrated seaberry extract that we use.
Genius takes time! Can you use Seaberry for anything else?
It’s most effective on skin because it has such high levels of omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9. No other product can nourish your skin in this pure form. You can use it on cuticles or any other areas that are dry and need attention—including hair.
